As part of our mission to lift up Columbus clinicians, each week we feature a different clinician having an incredible impact in the community. This week, meet Dr. Roger Friedman from Ohio ENT & Allergy Physicians. Send him a message to connect directly on the Offcall app!
On/Offcall is the weekly dose of information and inspiration that every physician needs.
1. Roger, tell us a little bit about your practice. I’m in an independent practice called Ohio ENT & Allergy Physicians with 22 ENT surgeons, eight allergists, one nurse practitioner, two oral pathologists, and one neuro ophthalmologist. We have been together as an ENT & Allergy group for 11 years, and I’ve added a number of practitioners.
2. Why are you so passionate about being independent? Our group is passionate about being independent as we can serve patients in a more expeditious and economical way. We're able to be involved in all the hospitals in town and also involved with independent practitioners, pediatricians, family physicians, other surgeons, and other specialists.
We specialize in taking care of allergic diseases, all ENT issues, and, of course, lung diseases. We have great collaboration between our physicians as we believe in the one airway theory of disease. Adding oral pathology has been excellent because so many of the diseases are often found by our physicians and then further diagnosed by the dentist. Our neuro-ophthalmologist is the finest in the city and state and does an amazing job of taking care of complex patients.
3. What’s your biggest hope for the future of the Columbus physician community? Columbus is an incredibly growing and vibrant city, and we are expanding all around the area. We have an incredibly well-educated workforce and we are building data centers all over the area. We are a state capital and the largest university in the country. Since we have such a growing population, this is a great place to be practicing as we of course have more and more well-educated and well-insured patients. The medical community is very sophisticated and up-to-date and the latest and greatest new technologies and biologic therapies are at our fingertips to help treat our patients.
