  3. Offcall Columbus Physician Spotlight: Meet Dr. Kara Wada

Offcall's referral tool and network is live in Columbus! Any clinician in Columbus can learn more and download the app now to start sending and receiving referrals today. We'll be rolling out city by city soon. Everyone else can sign and share our Fixing Referrals open letter to show your support and bring Offcall to your city sooner.

As part of our mission to lift up Columbus clinicians, each week we feature a different clinician having an incredible impact in the community. This week, meet Dr. Kara Wada from The Immune Confident MD. Send her a message to connect directly on the Offcall app!

1. Kara, tell us a little bit about your practice. I founded the Immune Confident Institute to serve patients who often fall through the cracks of the traditional medical system — specifically those dealing with the overlap of allergies and autoimmunity like Sjögren’s, POTS, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). I combine my background in allergy/immunology, lifestyle and functional medicine to take a comprehensive, integrative approach, helping patients find clarity and reclaim their health.

2. Why are you so passionate about being independent? Independence allows me to practice medicine the way it should be practiced — with time, empathy, and deep listening. Complex immune conditions simply cannot be solved in a hurried 10-minute slot and even 110 minutes doesn't seem like enough! Being independent gives me the agility to innovate and the freedom to build a care model that prioritizes patient outcomes over administrative boxes.

3. What’s your biggest hope for the future of the Columbus physician community? My hope is that we break down the silos. I want to see a community where independent specialists and primary care docs are truly connected, communicating seamlessly, and supporting one another. When we collaborate effectively, we not only reduce burnout for ourselves but ultimately provide much better, more cohesive care for our patients.
